Start learning how to take care of your skin now, so it won't get worse later. And what I mean by that is starting a skin regimen that you never skip so it doesn't make the problem worse. I know acne is something that you really sometimes can't control but sometimes you can stop it without having to go to a dermatologist. I ended up having to get on birth control when I was 16 to help control my skin. That helped tremendously but one of the best things I did was buy a Clarisonic Mia and it helped so much! Its expensive but worth it. You have to use the right brush for your skin type (dry, sensitive, combo, oily, normal) and you have to use it consistently for it to work; I use mine every single night after I remove my makeup. Thats also one important step to remember, never and I mean never skip washing your face at night! I don't care how sick, tired, or lazy you feel that night, do not skip this! Lol I still washed my face right after I even had surgery. If I forget, then my skin gets horrible (even if I didn't wear makeup that day) and it ends up taking longer to get it to looking better again. Switch your pillowcases often and try to keep your hair out of your face while sleeping. Also do not pick at your skin!! I know its hard and I do it too, but it makes it worse later on. I use Queen Helene's Mint Julep Mask (I usually buy at Walgreens Ulta, or Sally Beauty) I use it just whenever my skin looks yucky (2-3 times month or more just depends, sometimes weekly) and it really helps calm my skin down). In the mornings I use a gentle skin cleanser (I use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser) and a moisturizer (CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion) and at night I use Philosophy Clear Skin w/ my Clarisonic (omgggg I love this stuff! I bought the 30 day acne kit and it has cleared up some stubborn acne on my forehead I've had for about two months, overnight). It'll get better Lyle, I know it sucks now but try not to stress it happens to so many. Your gorgeous💕

Be careful with exfoliating because a lot of brands (especially St.Ives being the worst) can cause micro cuts in the skin!! You can't really tell at first but, it will, ruin your skin in the long run. The reason I recommend the Philosophy is just because I have just had such great results to begin with. I have just been on the skincare battle the last few years and its so much better now just because I know what works and doesn't for my skin. I tried every drugstore product out there and I am really loving Philosophy and yeah its more expensive but I'd rather pay more for something that works vs spending more on crappy drugstore brands that made my skin worse. If you want something cheaper, then check out The Body Shop Tea Tree Line (Ulta or online). Also Avon Clearskin helped me a lot too. Like I said though, Philosophy has worked the best for me. But everyones different. No matter what though, please don't waste your time on diy homemade treatments. A lot can just make the issue worse (like lemons or toothpaste!). I have just done a lot of research on this topic so I know what works for me. I'm no professional by any means but I do know a lot about it.

Also exfoliating too often can just make the issue worse! Depending on your skin type. One more thing, the Philosophy (just the face wash) runs at $21 which honestly isn't that more than me going into CVS spending $15 on products that don't/didn't for me. Just a thought.

Try consider using natural products. Alot of the times, acne is caused by the toxins in your body purging out through your skin, like the harsh chemicals found in commercial brand skin care products.
Use raw honey as a cleanser. You can mix in sugar to make a scrub to be used only once or twice a week.
Use this toner:
-1/4 of any bottle of apple cider vinegar
-3/4 of the bottle with green tea
-shake it up before each use and apply with a cotton ball every night. You WILL see a difference in just one week or most of the time, results are shown overnight or a couple of days.
Good luck!

I had this problem, It developed at 13 and I watched a video on YouTube about using natural products, tried everything and it still didn't work! Even toothpaste! In the end I gave up and lived with it, until I found a kit in a supermarket from "simple" face, it was a tester kit for £3 it included a cleanser, moisturiser and wash, I used them for a week and results were amazing! Best thing about it is it's for all skin types!

It didn't clear up completely as of course I was a teenager, and it's natural, but it helped! I'm 19 now I just get the occasional spot

I've had acne since I was 12 and now I'm 17 and my acne has gotten a bit better thanks to my dermatoligist! Cetaphil wash should help and a vitamin e serum or bio oil helps fade scars:)

I developed acne as a teenager. I used African black soap and neutrogena on the spot treatment and that kept it at bay a little but I eventually went to the dermatologist.
