This may be a stupid question, but I've always thought that bronzer was for contouring. HUGE MISTAKE. so what is bronzer actually used for?

A lot of people make that mistake don't worry. Brozer is just a powder you dust around your face to add a well bronze glow to your skin. You do place it sorta in the area that you contour but you don't make it as dark

Bronzer is used to give you that "sun kissed glow". You apply in to parts of the face that the sun would naturally hit (to make you appear more tan). Usually you put it above your contour like on the high parts of your cheeks :) and around the hairline of the forehead coming down to the temples!

I've been using my bronzer to help even my skin tone. I got a bit of a tan and my foundation is too pale. The bronzer helps it looks more even :)
