I have tried nail hardener, soaking them in various things, and I've tried cuticle cream but honestly none of them worked. What worked for me was wearing fake nails! (Your probably thinking what!? Haha) by wearing fake nails it is protecting your natural nails: your not using your nails as tools ie picking at things, ripping things open etc. This is the only thing that has worked for me! You can buy cheap fake nails off eBay or Amazon.

Drink lots of water! It is not only good for your nails, but also for hair growth, making your skin look healthier and brighter, and just all around good for your body :)

Make sure your cuticles are moisturized, push them back gently. once or twice a week, and massage them frequently. this is what I do for long pretty nails. I also use this on my cuticles. the bottle is $3 at walmart. I also use it for my skin.
