So in few weeks I want to dye my hair purple.at the mo it bright red ,I was thinking of using a semi perm purple over would it work??

Yes it definitely would work. I did the same thing. :) it will turn out a bit darker though, so keep that in mind when picking a purple dye.

It was over my faded turquoise, so it was like a mint green before I dyed it. But it was pretty much blonde

You may want to wait until your red is faded. the purple won't come out a true purple over the red. it will look more red violet and maybe even muddy looking.

Noooo don't put semidemi on your red hair I'm planning to dye my red hair purple too but I don't want to mess my hair thats why I'm doing a lot of research before I dye it..look on youtube "my purple hair journey " the first one from lounaTutorial!

It wouldn't mess up her hair at all, It's veggie dyes so it won't harm hair. But honestly I've done it. Multiple times. It worked. And if you pick a darker purple dye with the same tone as your red hair, it'll cover it and come out beautifully.

I think Aleissa means messing up her color, not the integrity of her hair. In order for Kimberley to get the color she wants (judging from the pictures she posted) she's going to have to fade the red out quite a bit. red is a strong color and will show thru. if she wanted a dark plum color then sure, maybe a purple on top of red will be OK. but for a true purple or lavender then it would be best if the red was lifted out first.

The second photo she posted is almost exact to the color I had. I switched back and fourth from red to purple for about a year. It never came out bad, and the red never showed through. I didn't fade it at all, I had permanent red hair using the loreal hi lights and I'd go over it with special effects.

@alyx t my mate done same she used semi red n then went over with perm Violette it went dark like yours :) so going to try that n go over with semi violette.
