I know mica powders are used in eye shadows so I was wondering if mica powder could be used as a loose eye shadow.

It's used a ton as a loose, my mom only wears bare minerals and most of them have mica (they are loose)

But it has other things too.

It needs a sticking agent. Straight mica powder will not adhere to the skin.

To help it adhere Too Faced has an eye primer geared towards glitter/shimmer eyeshadows. Get a sample of that and apply it to lids before application. Just be sure you get non-toxic mica powder that is safe to use around the eye area.

Would any eye primer work with the loose mica pigment?

If there is no sticking agent mixed in it will have a very hard time stick to a non -sticky eye primer. You can try a MAC Paint pot in painterly to use as a base. Take for example my beloved NARS eye primer...that sucker dries down to a matte finish. It does not leave a moist surface. So if I apply my shimmer eye shadows I will experience a ton of fallout and not only that it diffuses the wow factor of the shimmer forcing me to pack on more shimmer. The Too Faced primer I mentioned...sticky base so anything that I apply isnt going anywhere. And when applying loose power you want to do a patting motion versus a swiping motion.

I honestly love to use loose powders (mica/mineral based) wet. I use rosewater from the line Younique! mac paint pot is also amazing
