I post this before a couple times and no one answered.

I accidnently used the wrong acne face lotion on my face Saturday morning. It was expired and it burned my face instantly. It stung and itched like mad.

Now the burning sensation is gone but now my skin is cracked and scaly and severly dry. I've slathered on coconut oil and let it sit for half an hour last night and it didn't work, it's still just as bad as before. My face is super tight and it's uncomfortable.

Can someone please recomend a lotion or something that will help speed up my skin recovery?? I need to be able to find this at a Walmart basically because that and pharmasave is all I have here.

You could do an oatmeal & yogurt mask, leave it on for about 25 min, then use a good hydrating lotion or maybe even aquaphor?

I had a similar problem, nothing really will help until that skin comes off. I applied nivea cream to keep other from getting worse and avoided liquid makeup. a light powder didn't irritate it or show the dry skin. just make sure to press it into the skin not brush to prevent irritation. after a few days of doing the moves cream day and night and whenever I wasn't wearing makeup when I washed my face the dry skin started coming off. it was kinda gross actually. But since Mine didn't itch or hurt or anything I use a sugar scrub really gently to help it come off then continued to moisturize with the nice for a couple of days to make sure the alike underneath was really hydrated. oil won't help because it is a sealer not a moisturizer. it would work best to apply your moisturizer then apply a very thin layer of the oil to lock it into the skin.

Thank you sooo much melissa. It doesn't hurt anymore now but I was scared of any exfoliation because I didn't want to irritate it, and I had no idea about the oil! Thanks for that info :)

Hey ray! I have never had acne but I do hsve sensitive skin and when it has a reaction like the one you are describing I would switch to creams like nivea and vaseline at night! you just got to be careful until that skin goes. no makeup or harsh face washes or chemicals! I usually use milk as a cleanser I dip cotton wool in the milk and massage it into my skin, I then put on a honey mask fir ten mins and then wash off with tepid water!

Thanks Paula! I haven't used makeup since Saturday... I don't know what hubby did with the honey I'll ask him when he gets home.

I have super sensitive skin and ill use oats mixed with lukewarm honey or aloe vera and my skin feels so much better after any burning reaction :)

Do you grid the oats up or leave em whole?

Agree on the oatmeal + yogurt + honey face mask. Oatmeal is supposed to restore the natural pH of skin. It is also very soothing. Honey locks in moisture.

Will this work?

I wouldn't use anything with any chemicals or unnatural ingredients in it, it might make it worse.
And as for the oatmeal, I prefer not to grind it up and use it as a paste, but you can grind it up if you'd like, it's just a bit more runny and harder to keep on for a few minutes in my opinion.
I find putting milk on a cotton ball and dabbing on the face helps soothe for a little bit, not as much as oats but it does help.

Thanks Alyx. Ill do the oatmeal mask tonight. I need hubby to bring honey home as we don't live in town so I can't get it atm. Is there anything I could possible slather on my face an sleep in?

Aloe! try to find the most " natural" type you can. otherwise its no big deal. just use it in your skin by its self if you become a little dry mix it with a heavier facial moisturizer.

Use 100% pure cold aloe vera

Coconut oil isn't a moisturizer. It is used to hold moisture into your skin but it doesn't really provide much moisture to the skin.
