I was just wondering how many of you have the Good Karma brushes. What do you think of them, are they worth the $? I have all MAC brushes and they're scratchy! For example, the 129 (especially) and the 109. Is that normal? I'm sorry I guess there are two kind of unrelated questions here.

@Liza Awesome! I want all of them, I had a quick look at the ones they had at sephora and they looked and felt pretty cool. Hopefully UD will have a sale soon!

The only UD brushes I have have been the ones that have come in palettes (all eye brushes) and I really like them. They are really soft and pick up the right amount of product. I'm sure you could find comparable brushes at a lower price point, but if you have your heart set on Urban Decay, I say they're worth it. Sign up for UD's email alerts if you haven't already, when they're doing a sale you'll get an email and you can get a 10% off code for signing up as well!

I contacted Urban Decay because I wish they sold them in a set. I bought them all at once with my pro discount but would be nice if they gave a deal for the set

@Liza That would be awesome! I was doing some research and if you search for "Urban Decay Brush Set" there is a set of brushes that comes up, the Big Buddha set. I know it's old and I couldn't find anywhere to buy it but they did do it before so maybe they'll do it again!

that would be great. I really do love the brushes. their best sellers are the optical blurring foundation brush and the 24/7 pencil brush designed to blend out their shadow pencils. I love their eye shadow blending brush. I actually like that style better than like a MAC 217 for blending out harsh edges. their multitasker is a must have for me too

I like their facial brushes but I will stay true to natural hair for my powder products

I have the one that came with Naked and it's definitely my favorite eye brush. So much so that my husband convinced me to keep the palette just for it since even though the shadow mostly sucks, it works out to something like only $26 for the shadows after the cost of the brush. I may never buy UD shadow again, but I'm definitely buying more of the GK brushes!

Try real techniques brushes found at ulta! They are a lower priced dupe for the good karma but amazing quality!

today's higher quality synthetics pick up powder just as easily as any animal hair brush minus the cruelty :-)

@Liza That's a big bonus! I'm thinking MAC brushes are a little overrated.

I like the real techniques brushes as well. the urban decay bristles are made out of recycled PET bottles, and the Real Teqniques are made of high grade takelon (nylon) fibers. I really like both brands, I think the UD ones are a little bit nicer in terms of quality, but it depends on your budget/needs. here is a guide I put together of the Synthetic Brushes that I have personally used: http://makeupmattersbylnc.blogspot.com/2012/08/synthetic-makeup-brushes-part-3-about.html?m=1

I don't think my last post went through. here is a guide of synthetics at all price points of brushes I have personally used http://makeupmattersbylnc.blogspot.com/2012/08/synthetic-makeup-brushes-part-3-about.html?m=1

I have many high grade synthetic brushes and I still prefer natural hair for any powder products I use. Synthetic just doesn't blend the way I like.

Mel, I totally agree. as a pro who has been doing this for years, I honestly don't get the MAC thing at all. I use and love OCC. whenever I give another MUA my brushes to try they can't even tell they are synthetic!
