Braids don't create curls, they create crimps. Try Bantu knots, I don't know about you hair but thats the only thing that works for mine because I have extremely fine hair curlers don't work :/ but if your hair does hold just like @isabella said, headband curls work great, also I prefer foam curlers because there easier to sleep on.

First you take your hair and section it in the back like your going to have low pigtails
Then take one half and section that in 2
Twist the 2 peices away from your face tightly but so there still 2 seperate sections
Then twist those 2 peices together. Towards your face so it is kind of a spiral then tie it at the end with a hair elastic and it should stay together

Do this on the other side and then sleep in it over night wake up and then take them out and you should have nice curls.

So the first picture was when you twist them away from your face and the second one was when you twist them together towards your face and that way they stay together when you tie them
