My thought would be that (they're acrylic, right?) the stress you've put on your nails after two years of leaving them alone has made them sore. They have to grind your nails down and stuff to apply those, which is probably why they're sore.

They look amazing! Mine are always sore after I haven't gotten them done in a while. It's a vicious cycle for me. I'll get acrylics for a couple months, then take them off and go back to painting my nails. Right now I'm painting them, but that'll change soon!

Your nails shouldn't hurt from getting acrylics, it's the person doing the treatment, they don't need to be filed so thin.
