Wow, that's a toughie...hmm, I know it's not what you want to hear, but you probably should trim them for safety and sanitary purposes. you can still have short, cute, girly nails...sorry I have no better solution for you :/

If you really don't want to cut them wear several layers of nail polish (I mean at least 4 or 5). This will thicken up the free edge so it is not sharp anymore and will make it a lot harder to scratch your opponents.
