Yes! I do it all the time for Mass. The only thing is to make sure your sweater coves at least 50% of your booty. Haha.

It depends on what church you go to. For mine I usually wear a nice tee shirt and jeans.

It honestly depends on how most people at your church dress. As long as the sweater covers you in the back and the front, I think it should be fine, provided the church's dress code is semi-casual. You could also dress it up with accessories, such as jewelry/scarf. (: and nice shoes (preferably not beat up sneakers) would go great. But honestly, it's a church; and while provided its usually customary to look nice when in a church, nobody is going to freak out about your outfit if it looks super casual compared to theirs. (:
