Bare Minerals - dry skin??

Hey ladies, I have a quick question about Bare Minerals foundation. I used Bare Minerals several years back, and didn't care for it. My skin was much different now though than what it was when I was 25... I know I was not nearly as into makeup and skincare at that point and I remember it feeling dry and somewhat cakey on my oily/combo skin that I had then. It would actually make me break out, or at least I thought it did, but it could have just been that I had pretty awful skin due to the fact I didn't take good care of it at all. Since that time (10 years ago), I have begun taking much better care of my skin and it has turned pretty much into dry skin (which I moisturize and treat pretty well so that it ends up "normal"). Anyway, I was wondering, do any of you have dry skin and have experience with successfully using Bare Minerals? If so, tell me about it please and what techniques you use to make it work for you.  Thanks!!

You never find that it drys you out? That is part of my concern.

I moisturise and use primer first. the main problem is their brushes. they are a bit scratchy. if you use nice soft synthetic brushes instead this will help a lot.

I have dry, flaky skin, and bm really agrees with my skin. I just make sure to prep really well beforehand, and, as Juliana said, not to use their brushes haha. I use my real techniques brushes and it goes on well without emphasizing any patches or flakes. I also set with a setting spray. But bm is the best thing I've ever put on my face, I swear!

It's all the brushes. They absolutely suck. They scratch your skin.

No I have really bad dry skin so most liquid or cream foundations dry me out. I like BareMinerals but as far as mineral foundations go I really love Merle Norman (google it and check out their website) Mineral Foundation. It makes my skin look flawless, and it doesn't stick to my face like other makeups do. I get really good coverage and I usually only use concealer (Hard Candy Glamoflauge) but if I want a lot of coverage for dramatic looks I use Clinique Even Better Foundation (best liquid I have found for my dry skin). As far as brushes go, for any mineral foundation I use (bare min or merle n) I use elf kabuki brush.

No matter what you end up trying, ask for a sample first or have them do your makeup in the store. Mineral makeup is actually really good for dry skin, seems weird but its lighter than a liquid so it doesn't cling to dry patches. I highly recommend CeraVe for dry skin to (hydrating cleanser and the moisturizing lotion) and then using a primer like I mentioned before

I have oily skin and it broke me out. It took years of wearing it to realize. I use everyday minerals now and I like it. More colors non irritating and cheaper but you have to order it online. Now if I put it on my face itches instantly. I do agree the brushes suck. They're so irritating and they fall apart. I prefer a softer kabuki.
