So, I have bleached my hair twice from jet black, now it is a light yellow colour, but my aim is to achieve the lilac colour. My hairdresser added a toner (not quite sure what) and I've bought silver shampoo to tone it to this lilac colour but it is still yellow.. What do I do? 😟

You need your hair to be super super pale. I had bleached my hair to what I thought was light enough for a pastel lilac color, but the toners and silver shampoos and conditioners I used were just taking out the yellow a little bit, but not working the way I wanted them too. I had to lighten my hair even more the next time I was in the salon, and it worked like a charm. Now just using my shampoo turns my hair violet! I like to alter my hair color everyday, I use my toner to give it a grey color and let my shampoo and conditioner sit on my hair longer to give it a more purple tone. I also used a diluted dye solution to achieve a nice lilac color with my first round of bleaching (when it was not picking up color from the toner and shampoo). That made a beautiful color and I used a dye that were notoriously crappy so it would wash out quickly incase I wanted to change my colors. And diluting a dye also makes it weaker I suppose. I think the diluted dye may be your best bet unless you choose to lighten your hair even more.

My most effective hair products:
Shimmer Lights Conditioning Shampoo(light purple outcome)
Clairol Shimmer Lights Conditioner(light purple outcome)
Wella Color Charm Toner - T18 Lightest Ash Blonde (just removes my yellow tones)
Wella Color Charm Toner - T14 Pale Ash Blonde (just removes my yellow tones)
Roux Fanci-Full Temporary Color Rinse - Ultra White Minx (more of a silvery tone)
Roux Fanci-Full Temporary Color Rinse - White Minx (more of a silvery tone)
My Diluted violet dye mixture: 80% WHITE deep conditioner 15% Pink Dye (I used Beyond the Zone Color Jamz in Bubble Head Pink) with 5% Jerome Russell's Punky Colors in Violet

I use only these products and I don't put anything in my hair that isn't violet or violet toning products otherwise it pulls my yellow tones back out.

This is a photo of what my hair looks like when I just wash it with Shimmer Lights (I let the shampoo and conditioner sit on my hair for 2-5 minutes each depending o my patience level)
