My hair stylist suggested me 3 options for My hair treatment. Hair straightening, hair smoothening & hair spa. I know about straightening. but have no idea about other 2 options. what are those? what are the merits & demerits of each? and which would be better for My dry, wavy hair? I don't wanna go for straightening.

Hair smoothing is basically the same process as straightening, but they iron the hair only once to smoothen the waves into a straight look and not poker straight. Hair spa is nothing but applying the hair mask and leaving it on with a steamer and then washing it. You can do it at home itself by buying the hair mask from a beauty store. I had wavy frizzy hair and I got the smoothening done and it was the worst decision, my hair was so flat and lifeless not to mention damaged. I always warn people with wavy hair not to go for smoothening or straightening its just going to make the hair flat. You need to have really wavy/curly hair to actually carry off a straightened hair without looking like you just oiled your hair. After a year my hair has fully grown out and now I just use a frizz free hair mask and my rotating hair brush to style my hair and it works just fine.

There is something called a permanent blow dry. It's basically straightening but they use a blow dryer to straighten hair instead of a iron. It's suppose to maintain volume and bounce while keeping the hair smooth. I think it's the same as a Brazilian blowout. Not sure. Do let me know if you get any info on this.
