I personally havent dyed my hair gray/silver but I've read up on it quite a bit. I wouldnt think its a lot of upkeep aside from root touchups and just making sure your hair stays gray/silver. I'd think the most youd have to do is buy a purple shampoo to make the tone doesn't get orangey/yellowy.

How you attain silver/grey hair is usually with a toner. Basically a tint that cancels out orange/yellow tones. But that fades kind of quickly depending on how porous your hair is. Purple shampoo helps too but it doesn't necessarily deposit colour too well. The upkeep is definitely more than say, a champagne blonde but it's still do-able.

My hair turned silvery when I used a purple shampoo. I section my hair like I usually do everyday when I'm in the shower so it doesn't just tone the front of my hair lol but you could buy a toner which works well. It lasts pretty long but that's because I only washed my hair twice a week and in between just used a dry shampoo since I started out with black hair then to blonde and shampooing dries out my hair
