I love spray tans. I live using both Mystic and VersaSpa. I would recommend getting one on Wednesday, waiting 24 hours so the color can really develop, shower Thursday night for a short time with warm (not hot) water, and you'll end up with a really nice color by Friday for Valentine's Day.

I will never again in my life get a spray tan! this might just be my personal opinion, but they are not worth the money. my spray tan faded sketchy and orange. also, don't even think about getting wet, it will run like crazy! its messy and more of a hassle to clean up (I'm talking about cleaning up your skin haha) especially if you're going to engage in any sweaty activity (wink wink)

I go tanning all the time and I've gotten like two spray tans. I liked it. I would say go to Sun Tan City and get one. Usually when you go there to get one they will give you a good deal with it to like maybe a free visit tanning. When it starts fading it MIGHT look a orangy color you just need to take a shower/bath and wash your skin extra good every day if you can. It will last about a week, and my did look a little orange but only in bright light, like let's say walmart they have really good lighting in there and I looked orange. It only started looking like that after I tanned in the bed with it tho? So if you do get a free visit or so I wouldn't do it till after.

That stinks you had such bad luck, Laura. Did you get sprayed by someone or use a booth? I get one every two weeks and have never had any problems.

Oh and if you are not sure about the spray tan, I would just go tanning like everyday till then, so you won't have to deal with all of that.

I did the booth one and it turned out great but I could not breathe while I was getting it done. Felt like I was trying to tan my lungs. :)

I do the mystic tan in the booth..theyve never really turned me bright orange. last time I got one I ended up with a nice tan color..but ever since I've gotten pregnant I havent been able to get one,my doctor said the fumes arent safe to breath in while pregnant. I feel so pale :/

I love spray tans but they can be tricky if you don't have much experience with them. I get one almost every other week but I also have a base tan from tanning once or twice a week. I agree with Wendi, I wouldn't recommend going on Valentines day, it might rub off on your cloths and the color won't fully reach it's full potential until the next day. Wednesday or Thursday is your best bet. Make sure you don't put any lotion on and exfoliate in the shower before you go! When you get there they should have lotion in the tanning salon that you should put on your hands, feet/ankles, and knees as barrier cream so the color doesn't build up there or incase those places are dry. Afterwards you should wipe the barrier cream off. I usually wait until the next day at least to shower. Good luck!

I think the booth tans turn out best, and go light the first time you do it and see how it looks first and then you could go darker. My mom did it and it looked really natural, I believe it was the versaspa.

Used them for competitions and had zero issues. Just be sure to exfoilate well before application and do not do the day of V-Day. As one poster said you want to make sure it sets nicely on the skin. Also be sure to go to someone with some lengthy experience behind them and knows what the heck they are doing. I've seen some bad work ( color oversaturated in visible areas) and streaks. Also be sure to wear underwear you don't care about staining.

So some of you get your tans done by a person...I'm thinking a spray tan booth just because I feel like its cheaper as far as I've seen. I'm going to try it after hearing your thoughts!! hopefully all goes well. I'll do it tomorrow :)

Hannah, if you get a Mystic or VersaSpa tan, I would suggest using the "light" tan colo and maybe add a bronzer to it (just ask the tanning salon, they can add a bronzer to the cartridge, which usually is an extra $3 or so). That should give you a nice glow with your color without being too dramatic (the "medium" color might be too dark going by your skin color in your profile picture). Good luck!

Alright...I'm going to an airbrush technician...I'm nervous! I've never done it and I'm kinda weirded out getting butt naked by a random person lol! wish me luck :)

I've done mystic tan before and loved it! I usually do it if in a wedding or something. I never had ant issues with bad coloring. just exfoliate and make sure to use tge barrier cream around your elbows, ankles and between your fingers and toes.

I mystic tanned for awhile and found it a great alternative for me. Be generous with the barrier cream on wrists,hands,knees,ankles...

I usually mix cocoa powder and cinnamon in with my lotion and apply to desired darkness (: that way you can have a tan without the terrible fading and occasional spotting of a spray tan (:

I've only had it done sprayed by a person and its nice because they can make sure they get everywhere evenly natural looking but I honestly don't prefer that over the more expensive self tanners.

Lara no way!! never knew I could do that...I bet it smells way better too. I'll have to try that too :)

Alot of people are telling me it doesn't work, but I did it and noticed a difference, so maybe its a certain coco powder or something! I used natural unsweetened coco powder (don't know which brand) and I made it a longish time ago so I don't know how much I used :( I hope it works for you too!
