Hey, ladies! So I get eczema every year during winter, I'm assuming since I don't get out in the sun as often. Anyway, this year I've gotten it on my eyelids and it will NOT go away! I feel like I've tried everything I can think of. I'm keeping it clean and applying coconut oil several times a day, but nothing is working. Also, I can't really go to the dermatologist because I'm a poor college student and can't afford it. Any suggestions? I'm willing to try anything at this point!

This may be a long shot, but do you use an eyelash curler? I had what I thought was eczema on my eyelids and it turned out it was an allergic reaction to the nickel in the curler. as soon as I stopped using it it went away. if it's not that I'm not much help lol but thought it was worth mentioning.

Use a gentle milk cleanser to remove any grease/dirt from your eye area, then apply a cream moisturiser with a humectant and a higher oil to water ratio, and avoid eye make-up as much as possible until it clears, a layer of vaseline/or heavy eye cream applied at night to your eyelid will also help :)

I have had eczema my whole life and everywhere on my body/face at some point. I've even had it on my scalp when I was younger. So I feel you pain and know how frustrating it is! If you use cerave cream and then apply a thick layer of Vaseline over it, it should heal up in about 3 applications. You need to seal the moisture in and the Vaseline really helps with that. Nothing scented either!

Eczema is a skin disease. I've had it my whole life and in the earlier years of life it was on my face. The reason it's acting up now is because it becomes very dry during winter. The answer is getting a tar based medication.

Something you're using on your eyes has triggered it. Think about all of the new products you've used since it started. I've never heard of using coconut oil for eczema either. Of course the fastest cure is a prescription medication but since thats not an option I would stay clear of all facial products with dyes and fragrance and definitely don't not rub or scratch your eyes.

I love love love coconut oil for everything but I have found that in certain areas of your skin that are more sensitive like the lips so I'm sure your eyelids are the same it will dry it out you need something more like a beeswaxed based moisturizer or she butter or olive oil even that might help

Try psoriasin gel - it's a coal tar treatment - I use it for my psoriasis - and it works really well on my face because it absorbs very quickly and I can still put my makeup on over it - when I get dry patches I try to moisturize it as much as possible at night with jojoba oil and a really good moisturizer and during the day I use the psoriasin gel - but exfoliating gently is also another key to keep the scaley skin away - so once a week I use a glycolic acid cleanser to slough away the dead skin cells - hope that helps.

I had excema and they said it was a form of dermatitis on my eyelids and coconut makes it worse! Stop using it it's a common irritant if you have sensitive skin use cold water and aquaphor to hydrate and go to a dermatologist to get a prescription ointment!

Sorry didn't read about the dermatologist try Aquaphor and a tiny bit of cortisone ointment can be bought over the counter check with the cvs pharmacy because it can thin out your eye skin so only use a tiny bit And not many times

Thanks, Christina! I actually picked up some cortisone a few days ago, and it practically cleared up over night! I've only used it a few times, and it's basically gone now, so I won't be using it much more because I don't want it to cause problems haha. Thanks for your input! :)
