I actually like to use a luminous powder to set my makeup. But it has to be subtle. I use a "damp" beauty blender to apply it lightly everywhere except my t-zone. I find that the slight sheen it gives offsets a dry or powdery look. I like Hourglass Ambient Powder in LUMINOUS. I use Nars Loose Crystal powder to set my t-zone, again with a beauty blender.
