No matter how much we post or explain some people will never get it.

Or ever worse, argue that it doesn't matter what they call it.

Ohh well.
if people don't want to pay attention & learn, then that's fine c: they don't have to, honestly. I know it's annoying constantly having to correct them, but in the end, it's their issue & not ours. that's honestly how I look at it :s

Totally agree with you Erin.

Totally agree with kyra , it's like the bronzer/contouring thing.

Even if you go to pictures>eyes>smokey eye. There's more not-smokey than smokey eye makeup.

Well don't be too hard on them:) for a while I didn't know what a technical smokey eye was.

That is one look that I can't do well at all. I think I did OK for my first try but I would love to get the black smokey eye (like the 2nd pic) down pat without looking like a raccoon lol.

Haha yes thank you for posting that! And the whole contouring thing is 10x more confusing lol.

It's not just on BL! When I wanted to learn how to do it I googled it and looked on Youtube and 1 out of 10 of the tutorials were right lol! The rest were not even considered a smokey eye yet people called it that!

Yes this and bronzer for contouring are both not understood

All you can do is explain its not a smokey eye, some people don't know so its okay. Others are like 'ugh but tookiepoo5689399cutiepie from youtube said it is and shes like 10 and is a make up artist' so you can't really argue with that! lmao.

Exactly Mikayla! These people are confusing everyone who doesn't know what a smokey eye is! I feel like everyone who doesn't know the correct term for a different eye shadow look just calls it "smokey eye" lol! Not everything is a smokey eye!

Lmao @ Kitty.
thank you so much Jacqueline!! :)

Saving this because I've never been sure! But I always feel weird about putting makeup under my eye because I've got wrinkles, or well not exactly as they're hereditary and I have them in all my toddler pics and so does my brother, under my eye and I feel like those get in the way. @_@
Anyway, thanks for this!

That's exactly it. But no one is born with this knowledge. Artists like Jaclyn Hill and Miya Mia (sp?) are amazing at what they do, but will often call their looks smokey eyes, when they aren't. It's frustrating but for every one person we tell, ten are being told otherwise. It's just patience, everyone learns differently (:

I had no idea until I joined here that there was a difference! I've never actually watched a youtube video that knew the difference either! They all call the gradient eye a smokey eye. Never listening to a youtube guru again, just going to watch the video for inspiration haha.
