I agree with Shaye, a colourful or patterned shirt.
I wear maxi skirts at the mid waist and because it's black, it will pretty much go with anything. :)

I would wear it at my waist with a cute patterned tee tucked in and a thin oversized cardigan and simple flats. Keep it simple:)
