When I had black, I did a root touch up every other month and a regular one the other months. Black stays on the best of all the colors I've had, and it won't bleed out in the shower.

Teal - did you go to the salon for that or just did it at home?

And since you're starting out with an already light color (mine was firetruck red), yours should stay in really well. Get it done professionally if possible. If not, Raw is my favorite brand of dye

I had to retouch mine alllll the time, like monthly I would almost say. However, it's super easy. I just used a touch up product from Walmart that did an awesome job.

That's good to hear Austin, I was afraid my roots would be an odd colour and the rest black. Do you know the name of the product xx

I did and it honestly is a lot of upkeep because since its so light against the dark it almost looks like your part is balding (at least mine) but totally worth it (:

For the first time I would get it done professionally. But I love John Frieda Hair Color. And when you wash your hair make sure you are using a good shampoo (I really like Nexxus or L'Oreals Sulfate Free Ever... (They have lots of different ones) Color Shampoos and Conditioner). Also wash your hair in cool water not hot.

When I had black hair it was so easy to do so easy to keep up and lasted pretty long I did mine at home with box color my favorite was revlons hair dye it made my hair so soft and better condition then before I dyed it and it didn't smell bad at all because it has no ammonia in it and I dyed it whenever my roots would show the only bad part of having blonde roots is when they grow in it could make you look like you have a bald spot I'll show a pic with my black hair with my "bald spot" my roots are really light
