is water a scientific factor for healthy skin? I know people who rarely drink water and their skin looks great to me.

It helps. I've been been breaking out lately and I started drinking more water and my skin has cleared up a lot.

Water allows you to flush out the yucky toxins in your body that cause reactions on your skin. To heal the outside you have to start from within.

Its a beauty myth. I dont even drink 1 glass a day and my skin in clear. In my opinion there has to be other factors along with water to get noticeable results. (im no expert) (:

You're still young....wait until you hit your 30's. I'm 38 and if I only guzzle only one glass of water during the course of the day I'll wake up the next day looking kinda rough in the face. First and foremost its important for your kidneys and liver to be hydrated....kidney stones are no joke and can attack the old and the young.

Shelley u took the words right out my
Mouth!! When your young u can eat like a piggy n drink sodas all day..... Not an issue. (So it seems anyway) water is essential to everyone!!! Drink lots! Why would u not want to drink water? Oxygen, good for kidneys, hydrates..... Start good habits while your young, and when your 40 and 50, your skin will be in much healthier condition. You don't wanna be 40 and look 60. And everyone is different. Water is just good for you. Dont skimp. I'm an esthetician and trust me....... Older women spend LOTS of money trying to turn back time! Treat your body and skin good! Cheers!

For me, I noticed a difference when I just drank water all day and cut out the juices and sodas. My skin looked better and I'm not a big water drinker. But it is good for you, guess it depends on the person.

Water is CRUCIAL for healthy skin and overall health!! Water cleanses the body thoroughly of everything. It makes your skin flawless. I try to drink AT LEAST my water bottle full, which is 28ozs. Drink water, take a multivitamin, cleanse and moisturize your skin, and avoid touching your face thoughout the day. Thats how I keep healthy smooth skin

For me I used to have cystic acne all over my face. I was drinking at least 4 liters (yes 2 big bottles) of soda a day. I started getting migraines from not having the caffeine at all times so I just stopped cold turkey. 2 weeks after I stopped my entire face cleared up and my pores seemed to shrink (face cleaning routine stayed the same) I'm a big believer that not drinking soda help BIG time!

Yeah, I guess this was a question for older woman. I am an avid vogue, elle and instyle reader and twice I read it was a beauty myth. And I am aware of how unhealthy my habits are, I just hate water. I thought about adding those flavors like Mio, but isnt that making it less healthy?

Payton, you can add a little lemon juice to your water for something that's more natural. There are actually a ton of recipes for flavored water online, you can add mint, cucumber... Lots of possibilities! And I don't think that the question of drinking water is one specifically for older women, it's an issue we all should be thinking of. You only have one skin and you have to make it last for life! Like others have said, you can work on your beauty from the inside out, and drinking a good amount of water is a great way to do that.

Payton is right. It's a myth that you need eight glasses of water a day.

You shouldnt drink water just for 'beauty' but because its good for your internal organs and long term benefits!

@Payton cucumber Lemon juice is the best! Or Orange/lemon is even better! Get water and slice cucumber and lemons (don't squeeze the juice in) and let it sit in your fridge! It's so refreshing without a nasty aftertaste

Thanks courtney and alysia! I'll definitely need to try those recipes, maybe I can make my own. This might sound odd but I just dont like water alone. To me its plain and boring. (:

Water is found in a lot of foods and beverages ( like milk and juice), so you end up consuming more than you'd think. It is a myth that you need the 8 glasses a day, but your intake should depend on your activity level/ weather. No matter how pretty someone looks, if they are so dehydrated they are not sweating much or have terribly dry lips, something's not right.

Even if you're not drinking eight glasses you do need water. Water helps to clean out your system. It keeps you from being bloated it aids in under eye circles. They are way more noticeable when you're dehydrated. Your skin looks much better when you're hydrated from within too. You should be trying to drink it way more if you drink a lot of soda or coffee since caffeinated drinks dehydrate you.
