Ok. So I have decide I am going to get a belly button piercing, but what should I know before I get it. Also I have some questions.

Can it have a charm on it when I first get it?
How much does it hurt?
How do you take care of it?
Does it really get caught on clothes?
How much does it normally cost?
Will it suit me?
What problems could I have?
What could other people think?

If you have any other advice other than the questions I have asked. Definitely tell me. I really want to know as much as I can before I get it.

No you can't get a charm when you first get it because those tend to have a small barrel, when you first get it pierced you need to get a long one :)
2: depends on your pain tolerance, it only felt like a pinch to me.
3: you could use Dial soap to clean it with a q-tip, or Bactine (you could buy that at the parlor where you're getting it pierced)
4: sometimes, if your clothes have holes in them lol
5: mine cost $20
6: for the first 2 nights probably sleeping because you have to be so careful to not sleep on it, & it's going to be a little sore
7: it doesn't matter girl!! If you want it get it!❤️
P.s. Don't use table salt to clean it as many people will tell you to do, use sea salt only & if you can't get the solution called Bactine, than Dial gold soap is your best alternative! Good luck :D

By the way it takes 6-12 months to heal completely, depending on your body! & when it is healing white stuff will come out of it that's why you have to clean it daily! Day & night :) DO NOT play with it because it will get infected! & also try not to do extreme workouts because all the sweat could go into the open wound & it will get infected

Thank you Karen :D
I just have a couple more questions now from what you said.

In 4 weeks my classes change so I have gym at school. Should I wait for gym to be done?

Also how long would I have to wait before a charm could be put on it?

Without the piercing in does it look bad?

I think you should wait :) just to be safe :)

You can tell if any piercing is healed mostly by the look of it and also how it feels to the touch. Is it still tender? If it still hurts to a minor touch, it probably is not healed. If there are crusts around the edges of the piercing and it is still leaking fluid, it is still healing as well. If your piercing is not leaking, crusting, bleeding or inflamed, I'd say it is probably healed enough to change the jewelry, into a charm but generally it is not completely healed until between 4 months and a year. Don't leave jewelry out of a fresh hole for long or it may close up

Umm well it does leave a weird hole/scar :( mine left a hole on both sides & it doesn't look bad but it looks weird lol

Only touch your piercing when you clean it.
The best place to clean your piercing is in the shower. Let the warm water fall on your stomach, just above the piercing (not directly on it, or the water pressure could irritate the skin).
While you loosen any crusting around the piercing with this "trickle-down" method, lather your hands with medical grade soap (or Dial ). Rinse.
Use a soaked Q-tip to gently brush away any dead skin or crusting from around the piercing.
Let air dry. :)

1. No, because they pierce it with a certain ring that won't infect your belly button when you first get it done and you have to wait 6-12 months to change it everyone is different mine took the full 12 months to heal.
2. It seriously felt like a pinch to me and I have an extremely low pain tolerance.
3. Not really.. Unless you have a thin shirt and a dangly ring with sharp sides.
4. Mine was 30 dollars
5. It suits practically everyone.
6. It getting infected, taking it out to Long will cause the hole to grow in because it closes quick!! Clean all of your rings before you put it in.
7. Everyone is jealous of mine and they want to get theirs done:)

I had to get mine pierced with this ring that was pretty ugly but since my tummy was so flat he had to use it. It was like a bull ring looking lol except it closed completely and I still did gym with it!! So I mean it won't really affect you at gym (that's a personal experience)

I got mine back in 2006. I'm 25 now and only wear a ring when I'm in a bathing suit. I've kinda outgrown it I think.

Not to scare you but I would hold off as long as possible to wear anything dangling. it is possible to weigh down your hole and stretch it out. I've ripped my original hole before. It didn't hurt at all. It's hard to say whether the reason was because of my choice in jewelry or the piercer...He may have made my hole "too shallow"...

1. no they'll put in a very standard belly bar thats extra long to allow for swelling.
2. I didn't feel it at all, after it did hurt a little though when bending over.
3. You need to clean it twice a day with sea salt and boiled water (ovbiously cooled down) and after the shower.
3. Very rarely.
4. Mine cost around 50 euro
5. It suits everyone with a belly button :P
6. Infection, or your body can reject it (push it out) although this is very rare.
7. I suppose a judgemental closed minded person could think its trashy although everyone I met either ha one or thought it was pretty.
*wouldn't recommend cleaning it with soap*
Go to a parlour you trust, don't skimp on money for this. You want a sterile, hygienic, professional, knowledgable piercing place. Ask around and see where has the best rep. If you go there and don't feel its up to stratch then do not be pierced there.
