Recently I've been trying to highlight my face, but I was wondering if I should put my foundation on first and than highlighting and contouring my face, or the other way around?

I only highlight these days but I apply after my foundation. When I used to contour I did so after foundation application.

If I highlight on another its just the highlight product by itself so it doesn't interfere with the mix of the foundation color if the highlight product is a liquid form.hope that made sense :-)

You can do subtle highlighting before, with concealer and such. But what for what you're looking to do if say after:)

When using foundation you place where its needed and is not always everywhere and when highlighting it can be used buy itself when its a liquid, stick, or cream. This helps prevent the over cake finish of products over powering each other which I should have explained in my comment before.
