What is a primer and what does it do?

I always thought that a primer was a tool you would use to clean up pores or something, but is it what it's really used for? Thanks âśŚđź‘‹

No its a base for your makeup. Eye primer= makes eyeshadow last longer and bring out the color more. Face= creates a smooth surface depends on the primer but it can control oils, fill in pores, make your makeup last longer. Lip= not so sure but I think it smooths your lips I think that its kinda like a lip balm. Hope this helps.

Primer is like kind of like a hoax, if you ask any professional they'll tell you the same thing, for face primer anyway, face primer is to make a smooth canvas and fills in your pores, it doesn't nessacarly make your makeup stay on longer thats a lie.. for your foundation to last longer that depends on the staying power of your foundation , if you were to just put on a face moisutizer before you put on foundation it would work as the same purpose as any face primer, with eye primer that works to make your eye shadows have a better finish and show better pigment, and prevents creasing!
