There is a type of nail polish that you can buy which tastes horrible when you go and bite your nails- not sure where you can buy it but I've heard it works! :)

I used to have the same problem! I realized I was biting my nails because I would get nervous and that just eased my nerves. So I first started painting my nails continuously and not let them chip, if they did, I'd repaint them. As a base coat I would use a nail growing polish from Sally Hansen, I forgot what it was called. It's in a clear bottle with white top. Or I'd use Hard As Nails. Then I'd put on nail polish, about 2-3 coats. Then the top coat. I like the fast drying ones. For that I would paint not only the top of my nail but also the sides/ edges. That makes your nails harder so it's more difficult to bite on. Having all the layers of polish really helped me and now I don't even bite my nails. Good luck!

@Nicole M. do you specifically use a hard nail polish or you draw multiple layers to make it hard? and tell me.. would that be harmful to nails? as I've heard too much nailpolish turn your nails yellow...

Just one layer. It's called Hard As Nails. I think any nail polish causes nails to turn different colors. I now have green nails from polish from Christmas. Honestly it doesn't bother me but you could always leave the polish on for a week then take it off so your nails could breather. That should prevent any nail coloration that might happen :)

It's kind of a long term thing but I have really thin nails and they would always flake and I would just bite them off. So I started wearing acrylics until I broke the habit and then I could really work on taking care of them and making them strong
