What do you mean when you say buildable coverage.
I use Revlon colorstay.
how can build up the coverage without looking cakey?

That's a tricky foundation to use. I had it and stopped using because it wasn't a buildable coverage foundation that didn't make me look caked. I use a brush with looser bristles (sigma f84) if I want to build a foundation up or a beautyblender. My most buildable liquid foundation is mac studio fix, naked skin, covergirl 3 in 1, and rimmel lasting finish 25 hour foundation. These have medium coverage as a sheer liquid, but with added layers, they are fuller coverage and don't look cakey.

It's a sheer coverage foundation that can be built up to full coverage. If your foundation is already full coverage, then you don't need to build.
