I've used 3 different nail hardeners my whole life (Quimica Alemana, Nail Tek, a pink one with a woman's hand on it...lol forgot the name, as well as a basic Sally Hansen one) , but I'm looking for one that isn't very thick but helps nails grow! Any suggestions?

Hey Binks!!! Long time no talk! = P
I don't really ever wear actual nail polish but I do usually wear a strengthener or a matte finisher. I have worked in retail from the time I was 15 until I was 19, and I have since grown to be very conscious of how my hands and nails looked so I always make sure they are protected, filed, and cuticles are cleaned up. Mine are normally rock hard and grow very fast, but because of the dryness we had all summer where I live, my nails have been splitting alot = (. I picked up a bottle of European Secrets Calcium Nail builder at Sally's to try to help my nails grow to get my fingernails back to an even but short and uniform length. I apply two coats of that which dries very thin, follow with Sally Hansen's Advanced Hard as Nails hardener and topped off with Nubar Matte Finish for Men to make it completely undetectable. It has helped SO MUCH. My sister wanted me to grow them out to see how big of an influence the nail builder was having on the rate of the growth, so I did and my sister painted them the first day and once again at the end of three weeks and 1 day :

I cut them off immediately after that picture was taken just because I honestly just think they look gross on me when they are too long, I felt uncomfortable with them, and they get too much bacteria underneath them which requires constant cleaning, so it's also a hassle. The only reason I agreed to grow them out at the time was for the sake of experimentation and because I didn't reallyhave to deal with going to work everyday, etc. I really think it was the nail builder that did the trick, and then the extra protection of the Nylon-Retinol Harder by Sally Hansen kept them from breaking. I have a picture of my nails without any color polish also if you need more convincing = P
See you around girl! <3

I've been swearing by Nailtiques for about a year now. I started using it semi-regularly in summer 2011, and then really regularly since spring of this year. They're much stronger and don't peel as easily. I've also been taking folic acid and biotin as part of my daily vitamins, which are recommended (by the internet mind you, i haven't consulted an expert) for hair and nail growth.

My email doesn't tell me that I had replies, I thought I was never going to know.
@Debbie--I forgot to mention I used that before, again I wasn't happy with it. Thank you so much for the suggestion though!
@Ashley-----Where can I find that? Any specific store?
@Cameron-----Wow. Thank you so much for your post. Your nails looked amazing!!! I'm definitely going to purchase the calcium nail builder when I go to sally's !!! I love you so much, thank you for sharing you're experience with me. I am really grateful, I will try them out and let you know how it works out for me! Thank you!
@Madi---I saw that one at Walgreens but I went with the other Sally Hansen one that its packaging is completely gold....it's suppose to grow nails in 5 days....yeah right lol!!! Maybe I shouldve bought the Green tea one. I'll go back to look for it if this one doesn't do the job in 5 days lol! Thank you for your suggestion!
@Ellen- I've been taking biotin too, it really helps my hair , but I haven't seen a change in my nails :(
I've never hear of folic acid, I'll look that up! Thank you for your suggestion!
