I've Never really had what you would call bad skin but my skin was definitely never good, the texture was always bumpy with closed comedones and I had dry patches most of the time and about two blemishes almost always. Over summer I started really caring about my skin so I researched a lot and gave a few brands a try.. I tried to stick to natural products with not too many ingredients.. After plenty of trial and error I found my go to cleanser, philosophy purity made simple. It's also a makeup remover so it's really the only product you need while washing your face. I also purchased philosophy clear days ahead with salicylic acid to keep my blemishes to a minimum but I only use that about every other day so I don't dry my skin out. I also bought a clarisonic Mia which has done wonders to my pores, I cannot go with out it. Also, if you know you're going to be sleeping in your makeup or wearing it for a long period of time be sure to use good quality makeup that is non comedogenic(doesn't clog pores)
