I drink coffee all the time and my teeth are really yellow. I wear bright lipstick and it just makes it stand out. I don't have a lot of 💰and I would like to whiten my teeth at home and not have to go to the dentist. Have any suggestions? :)

Baking soda is actually really harmful to your enamel. Any diy home remedies are not great for your teeth.

I'd suggest using crest 3d white toothpaste and start a jar and just keep adding money to it and treat yourself to a bleaching. Go to the dentist and get fitted for bleach trays and then buy the bleach and syringes and do it at home. It's cheaper. But it's the same bleach dentists use but you don't use the you've light so it'll be less sensativity and you get the same results in four 30 minute sessions instead of one 30 minutes session.

Sorry for clogging up your thread but also, whiten your teeth to the shade of the whites if the eyes. Any whiter than that will look unnatural. All my info came from dental assisting text books.

I have used baking soda before and I didn't think it was harmful and it also works to whiten teeth over time. @Raylene how is it harmful for your enamel? and I don't mean that in a rude way I'm just asking why is it specifically wrong to use it?..I have used the crest whitening strips and although they worked they made my teeth really sensitive.

Baking soda is harmful because it scrubs the enamel away, but if you use a toothpaste with baking soda and an enamel protecting agent, I know arm and hammer has one, it'll whiten your teeth while protecting.

Some people encounter sensativity with crest, while others are fine, just as some people with encounter sensativity with the bleach used in the office. And like Alyx said it's abrasive and scratches your enamel creating tooth sensativity to hot and cold and sugars and startches. Toothpaste with whitening agents are better for your teeth then white strips or that liquid stuff you paint your teeth with because it has other agents mixed in the paste. If sugest making an apt with your dental hygenist and going over options for your teeth specifically.

Also whitening toothpaste will only lift surface stains over several weeks it'll lift up to three shades whiter. And more staining you will need an in office or take home bleach. Also if you already have sensitive teeth due to week enamel I'd stay away from whitening toothpaste and just make a dentist apt. Sorry for being so long winded and repeating myself... I'm just obsessed with my teeth and like to inform people :)

I use baking soda once a week but I mix it it works for some ppl I don't know in my opinion works for me

It will whiten your teeth just fine. But it will scratch your enamel causing sensativity and you can't fix your enamel like you can a cavity. In my opinion avoid baking soda avoid peroxide and avoid lemon juice. Use good toothpaste and make an apt for a cleaning every 9 months and save for professionally dental whitening (be it in office or at home kit)

@Raylene..what toothpaste brand do you recommend to use?

Listen to raylene in the long run baking soda isn't good for your teeth, yes it will help with the color but I would rather have healthy teeth and a whitener that takes longer, I worked in an oral surgeon office all through highschool. Check out groupon for their discounts on teeth whitening kits! Amazing deals!

Stephanie ultimately no toothpaste is true whitening, that's why it takes so long to lift stains. And really toothpaste isn't al that important. I personally use crest and Colgate which ever is cheaper that the time for the larger tube (5 people in my house we go through a lot of toothpaste lol) if you have sensitive teeth get a toothpaste for sensativity, that I recomend crest complete sensativity (do not get sensodyne, it tastes gross and foams funny in my mouth) if you have gingivitis get one for that. But te two brands I will for sure recomend are crest and Colgate :)

No problem Stephanie :) and emily that's nuts! Do you have to be a member? And do they ship to Canada?? I guess I could easily look into that lol.
Jan 18, 2014
Alyx T.
Groupon definitely ships to Canada, but it's usually a 10-15$ difference from the states prices.

You do have to be a member but there is no cost to be a member, they have amazing deals, FYI though if you find a deal you like at a local store or hairdresser call the store first and make sure they honor the groupon don't but it first because most stores don't get paid for it they will just honor the advertised cost! LOVE GROUPON! Got my keratin treatment for 75$ that way!
