Triangle Eyeshadow Technique

I've been seeing this term used in tutorials and articles... But I am having the trouble to find why it's a good technique and what you really need to do. All of my makeup skill is based of my art training so I think I may be familiar with the outcome of the technique, but I achieve these results without the technique.

Would love some feedback!
