I would go with the black dress but then add a ton of accessories have color. It's mad tea party so I'd keep it classy and cute but then add colors from the characters like orange and purple and blues and reds. You're going in the right direction :)

If you want more of a tea party look, maybe a dress with puffy sleeves/skirt like this, for a cute look.
