I am a makeup artist and in the USA you don't have to be certified! I got just my certificate and I'm good.

You have to be certified in the UK to work in any beauty salon or counter.

Great point jackie, you have to be strong and open minded cool and collected in the business, its indeed a cut throat island of insane to pleasant people.I always think about the devil wears prada its insecurities, tears, irritation, misunderstandings and happiness of work just full of emotions but you can leave the client knowing you did your best to achieve what was asked for.I'm not sure what the certification has to do with what this thread was about, There seems to be a bit of confusion and may need to be read again but off the bat I understood this was about having the Mentality to deal with the makeup world and be prepared for such asinine people which most run into and just keep going with poise.  :-)

That's so true. I feel like my mom had this issues in cosmo school. she wasn't able to finish, she went when I was about 7. mainly for finance reasons but I know the mentality of the ppl was something she constantly mentioned (and I was only 7!).. spme ppl in the beauty industry are in deed for lack of a better term, just flat out shallow.. what do they call them nowadays, mean girls (guys too). but you have to be focused on your bottom line and remain unaffected (at least negatively).. thanks for sharing Jackie..
