Hi everyone :) I don't know what is causing these breakouts but I need to figure this out!! I use smashbox photo finish primer, Revlon colorstay foundation and then benefit hello flawless powder. Would any of these products be making this worse??

Have you tried switching the products out one by one to see which on is making you skin react

Products react differently to different peoples skin. I would suggest stop using one for a few days and see of your acne clears up, take turns not using the products.

I was at Ulta and asked if someone could help me pick a foundation so they sent me to some philosophy vendor that was by far either incredibly stupid, blind, or was trying to hard to make a sale. SHe tried recommending every single philosophy product including their primers which are "double the size of smashbox, but are healthy for the skin" I said I already have smashbox and she gasped in horror and said "arent you break out prone?!".

Long story short, maybe its the smashbox primer

Did this recently started happening? and have you been using those products for a while and haven't broken out before? I'm going to school to become a skin specialist I might be able to help you! haha (:

Melissa I've been dealing with it for maybe two years and it's just been slowly slowly getting worse and worse and Sammy damn I bet your right. I always used to use neutrogena and then switched to Revlon because the coverage was better. And ya Revlon does a good job covering that's why I don't want to give it up but I think I better!!

And I'm definitely not limited to drug store make up so any suggestions for foundation and concealer for acne would be much appreciated! :) thank you all

It could be any of those things so I recommend stopping them for a couple weeks and then slowly introducing then one by one. Also, Revlon Colorstay has changed their foundation formula! My skin had a huge allergic reaction from it so I think that might be causing the breakouts.

Foundation and concealer for acne that I'd recommend is Tarte's Amazonian Clay foundation. I didn't love it but I would recommend at least getting a sample as it is meant to help keep oily skin in check. It didn't wow me personally but it might wow you. I use Urban Decay Naked skin though and it's great. I unfortunately have acne because of genetics, so it doesn't really matter what I do or don't do as far as makeup goes, but the UD doesn't break me out further and is very light. It has really great coverage for being so light as well. For concealer I use either Nyx's concealer jar or Urban Decay's 24/7 concealer pencil. Although my acne is genetic, I know that drugstore foundations of any kind just don't agree with my skin. Some may say that's b.s. but I've been there plenty of times and they really do make it worse no matter how many say "oil free" and whatnot. You may have the same issue. Unfortunately having acne makes it hard to find things that agree with the skin and don't make it worse. Also for primer you could give hourglass a try. That's the only brand of primer I've sampled that I loved enough to buy. (I saved some money and got the travel size for much less and don't see myself running out any time soon.) The only Smashbox primer I tried was the photo finish with salicylic acid for acne prone skin and even that broke me out so I would definitely not even want to touch the normal stuff lol. I haven't tried the powder you mentioned but Tarte also has a really nice translucent powder with the same Amazonian clay as the foundation I mentioned and it helps control oil. I liked it a lot but now I use Nyx's HD photo powder in translucent and it works just as well. Just some product suggestions if you find that one or more of your products is for sure not agreeing with you!

Omg Shauna I knew it! I wonder if that's why my face is like unacceptable now because Revlon was always kind of runny but the last bottle I bought and have been using for the past month was really thick. I could barely get it out of the bottle!

Caitlin thank you. I tried Tarte's Amazonian clay and thought I was going to love it and I didn't. Maybe I'll try that urban decay foundation..
