Hi! I recently was booked for my first major makeup job and I am hoping to get someone's advice on an issue I'm having. I'm wondering what those of you who are professional makeup artists use for eyeliner. I am a liquid eyeliner freak, but it gets tricky when it comes to sanitation. I bought disposable eyeliner brushes from Le Cosmetique but they don't fit into any of the liquid eyeliners I have since the stick is too wide.
Some people say you can sanitize the liquid eyeliner pen types by dipping it in alcohol, what do you guys think about that? I have the beauty so clean spray so I thought about spraying that onto the Stila liquid eyeliner pen but I'm not sure if that is a safe way to go. I have also thought about just getting a gel eyeliner and scooping out some onto a metal palette, but the times I have used gel in the past it came out looking really thick (which might be my lack of skills with it).
Please let me know any and all thoughts, I would love any advice!

I'm not a professional, but when I did a photoshoot, I brought only a gel liner. I scooped it out then with the brush, took a bit, and swiped back and forth to warm it up and blend it as well as sharpen the edge of the brush and used it that way.

You can turn almost any eyeshadow into liquid eyeliner with a little water. It probably won't look as bold but it glides on similarly and all you have to do is sanitize the brush you used. I would maybe recommend getting some gel liner and practicing with it if and trying some different brands. I think this will be a lot easier for you in the end.
or you could always find an inexpensive one that works well and use it for one person only. or have them bring their own if they have a favorite.

if its a felt tip liquid eyeliner you can sanitize it with beauty so clean. if its the kind with a brush, I use disposable wands. as for gel liner, try using a very thin fine liner brush with it and be sure to wipe of any extra product so it doesn't apply to thickly. another great option is cake eyeliner which is easily sanitized with beauty so clean. you'll get a darker more dramatic line then just using wet regular eye shadow which is of course still a great option depending on the look you are creating

Thanks great advice!!! So helpful! I think I'll try to do gel again, seems the easiest way. Any lining brush favorites?

I was also a liquid liner fanatic! I have found that tarte cream/gel liner is an amazing substitute. Just use a makeup brush similar to ur liquids applicator. I apply some to my hand or palette and dip my brush into that... So that ur pot is sanitary at all times. It's also highly waterproof. Try it:) u will love it!

Oh my gosh, make up forever aqua black is holy grail. It's originally made for the water ballet so it's meant to stay on all day, in any conditions. Color is ultra black and glides on so easily. Must have. Worth every penny.

for a liner brush I actually love the Real Teqniques fine liner brush, not the one that comes in the eye brush pack ,the one sold solo you can get a super fine line with it. also sometimes I do use an angled brush instead or a Bdellium Tools bent liner brush.
