Acceptable face primer? Other than primer?

Since I don't have a primer to use, for the past month I've just used moisturizing lotion as my primer before all face makeup. Ladies, is this acceptable? Do you use lotion instead of primer?

Using moisturizer would definitely help smooth out some lines but it won't help with keeping your makeup on longer, I would suggest investing in an inexpensive primer as an alternative

I'm one of those cases that Aleighnna G. described, as in one who doesn't use/need face primer. my foundation stays on all day without it and I don't get easily clogged pores. it seems like every time I walk into my sephora they want to show me a new primer lol. but I've gotten many samples and it a product that I just don't need and I won't waste my money.
