Mineral spirits is a paint thinner and paint brush cleaner. but I heard it can be used as a makeup brush cleaner? is this okay to use and safe?

It is not safe!! It's going to be way too harsh on the bristles. And also, it's paint thinner lol. That is kind of overkill for just makeup, it's used for other types of brush cleansing like with house paints and whatnot. You can use regular antibacterial dish soap mixed with a little olive oil. Or use the olive oil first to get all the product out of the bristles and then the soap to sanitize and rinse the oil out. It's much easier on the bristles and it's safe to be handling and in case there would be any type of residue left it wouldn't be harmful to have on your skin.
