Let's give advice to those starting out in makeup. I want everyone to give a pro and con advice we either learnt ourselves (come on we've all been there) or advice people have given us.
My advice to those new to eyeshadow would be a nicely shaped eyebrow will make your colours stand out better and enhance your features aka shape your face.
My NO NO would be do not over do it. I've been there, I've brought all those bright colours and want to try them all out. NO FOR GOD SAKE NOOOOO.
So what advice would you give people on here?

Pro: Do your makeup near a window so you can see what it looks like in natural lighting. Often when I do my makeup in the bathroom with no natural lighting I end up looking orange or have harsh lines when I go outside.
Con: Don't draw your eyebrows on straight across lol. Give them an arch.

Pro- moisturizer and primer make your skin look amazing and you'll need less foundation. If your foundation looks too dry or oily, you won't be pleased with your overall look even if you have mad lip/eye/contour skills.
Con-take it easy on the tweezers. Find a good YouTube video or three on tweeting or better yet, go to a pro! Having near but full brows makes you look young and polished!

I'm not understanding the whole pro con thing, but
pro (I guess)- never be afraid to mess up, you will not be amazing your first try, practice makes perfect.
con - you don't actually have to do your eyebrows. the eyebrow thing is sort of a trend just like the highlight contour thing. your makeup can still be amazing if you don't do these

Agree with you Allison.
Jen, just share advise and tips on blending or prep or little ways how you get you makeup right that newbies don't know or need advise on. Also give advise on what not to do with makeup because I feel a lot of us just tip toe around our friends or family when they do something that's not right when it comes to makeup.
I hope I've helped you understand a little bit more xx

Pro- always tap off excess powder products. Whether it's for your eyes or face, it will make everything neater!
Con- if you are fair skinned and want a sun kissed glow, you still use your correct shade of foundation, followed by a bronzed where the sun would naturally hit (high spots on face). Going 2-4 shades darker than your foundation leaves a mask line all around your face and your neck/chest much lighter.

Pro- don't be afraid to try new and different products, and by different brands. But do your research with customer/pro reviews (I.e. right here on Beautylish) ingredients (especially if you have allergies).
con-don't buy and use something just because it looked good on someone else. what works for a few doesn't work for everyone. Find what works best for you. Find your own style.
