I know this question has been asked 500 times, but I really would like maybe a step by step on how to contour and all the products I need. I want to learn really bad and I know I could watch a tutorial but I would rather read it.

With that as a reference, contouring is about creating a shadow to define something. It can be done with any matte shadow, matte bronzer, foundation, concealer, powder a couple shadows darker than your skin tone. Under the cheek bones, jawlines, both sides of forehead. Also. If you highlight, you're automatically contouring. Also if you use a liquid or cream powder, always set with a powde.

Not to contradict Symone's otherwise excellent advice, but bronzer shouldn't be used for contouring. It's normally too orange, sheer or shimmery. Contours are supposed to have a matte, cool grey undertone. So not only does bronzer for contour not look right visually, but because it's also sheer, you have to use a lot of product to give the same darkened effect, which is usually the cause of muddy/dirty looking faces :) other than that, Symone nailed it.

For contouring it all depends on your skin tone. I'm pale so I prefer to use a brown matte eyeshadow such as NYX Taupe. You can also use a foundation that is 2-3 shades darker than your skin tone.

If you want an easy/cheaper contour use a matte bronzer which is perfect. I use benefit hoola bronzer and just carve under your cheeks, but blush and highlight on then blend together with your powder brush :) I hope that made sense and it's pretty simple
