Has anyone tried a blonde hair dye without bleach to get a brown shade?
If yes then which colour and which brand?

I think that 99% you won t be happy with the result, it will mostly probable turn into a dirty brassy color.

I have before. I've used Revlon and its pretty decent. Garnier Fructis is good too :)

Don't! You'll most likely end up with a brassy multicoloured mess. Not to mention ruin your hair. If you want to only lighten only a little bit, try a bleach bath. 1oz blue powder bleach to 2oz clarifying shampoo. Leave on for around 15-20 mins but check it frequently. That way you won't ruin your hair and you have more control over the colour!
