I pose this question because I'm am sad to see the post about not being beautiful enough for society... young girls are looking at the pics from the site and measuring themselves by what they see :( really most of us are photoshoped or made up.. what is the meaning of true beauty?

I look at a person's heart to define beauty. I really don't give much thought to the exterior.

Most definitely Shelby. Variety is the spice of life. I love looking different from others and I refuse to try and look like someone I'm not. I love my skintone, my brown eyes and even the gap in my teeth.

I try not to envy noone. God made us all different for a reason. I just try to be "oh you got your beauty and I got mine". Noones better than the other. Wer all beautiful in our own way why hate or want.

I think beauty comes from the inside some are just totally lucky to also be beautiful outside.

Beauty is what we see in ourselves and others..ofcourse inside beauty is more beautiful and important then what we look.

Beauty that you can see is in the eye of the beholder we all have different ideas of it and what we call perfect,I would deffiantly not ever call another person ugly but society has deffiantly set a very unhealthy, unrealisitic view of beauty which does pressure people both girls and some boys.Other beauty is personality and soul wise I consider a beautiful inside is someone who brings positive, vibes and energy to a room and just are giving and lovely people to be around.A girl can be so beautiful, pretty, gorgeous or "hot" and "sexy" to a boy but can be a horrible person and have a disgusting personality and attitude.

We are all beautiful in some way. There is no definition of beauty. Every country and every place has their own beauty measures. And beauty doesn't mean anything. People don't fall in love with each other because they are beautiful. Imagine you date or, please never happen, marry someone just because they are handsome. And what will you do with that person, what will you talk about. But let's stay in this' Beauty passes, the only thing that stays is your heart'. So yeah let's say that the heart is the most precious beauty we have got.

This is what always bugs me.
Girls are always asking questions on how to help their self esteem, and for some reason- that makes no sense to me whatsoever- many of them reply with make up.
Make up offers a temporary relief ( I am speaking about beauty in a technical term, inner beauty is a whole other concept to me. )
Make up will not solve self esteem issues, makeup is like a diet pill... Good for nothing but a temporary relief.
The whole idea of using makeup to enhance natural beauty is great, but hiding behind make up because you don't feel beautiful is quite frankly, absurd. I feel like I look so much healthier and better without makeup, but I like playing with make up. I like the actual application of makeup, I don't care too much about the outcome. If make up makes you happy, then I am no one to say stop. But if it makes you happy because you are not happy with your actual appearance, you need to put down that mascara and start working on yourself. Or you are in for a decline in self esteem everytime you remove your make up.

Beauty is skin deep. It doesn't matter how you look on the outside as long as you have a beautiful heart.

Beauty is not defined by how much makeup you have on , its defined by the way you carry yourself & how you feel about yourself. Makeup does not define the way which you are made , it only enhances some features...you can have the most ugliest attitude but have the prettiest "made up" face ever or have the ugliest face and the sweetest attitude! It does nothing to help with self esteem it only boosts it for the moment...you can't always hide behind the makeup you have to embrace how you are because we all are beautiful we have to realize that!

@FrancesMarie... EXACTLY!! I use pretty, gorgeous, sexy, cute, etc..when referring to the look of someone/something but when I say "Your/she's/he's beautiful I'm talking about their "being" their spirit & soul & @Shelby... Absolutely!! An ugly personality makes a very ugly face!! Something I've always said! I can look @ a person & think "They're very pretty" & they open their mouth & all that pretty totally turns ugly! & Delight, I've had troubles all my life wishing I looked "perfect" like the women in magazines & felt really ugly & horrible about my looks because of those (excuse my language but the harshness is totally necessary!!) damn magazines until I learned that they're ALL retouched, airbrushed, digitally enhanced (boobs made bigger, waists made smaller, cellulite smoothed...even hair, if out of place its just digitally erased right there or even frizz!! They can smooth the look of all the hair digitally and will make it WAY fuller & longer than it is naturally!! But until I found out that EVERYONE Victorias Secret models, celebs, singers, they're ALL enhanced in some way I felt "Not pretty enough" I know now that we're ALL the same! All of us have pimples, cellulite, dark circles, stretch marks, crooked noses, big ears, one tit bigger than the other...we're ALL human beings! All made the same! How can we not be all gorgeous when we're made in the likeness of God??!!

"No amount of makeup can mask an ugly heart." - Kevyn Aucoin.
He couldn't have said it better. Beauty is based upon the things you say and do. Your true beauty comes from the inside. A beautiful person is compassionate, loving, and takes care of those they aren't required too. I can always see the beauty in people when they can inspire others, and remain courageous in times of darkness. Like Jaqueline said, you can have the most full, and even lips, but if what comes out of those lips is nasty and cruel, no one will think of them as beautiful. Beauty isn't how great you look in that skirt with that lipstick, it is how you treat those around you and yourself.

I LOVE the strength that has been written here by TRULY BEAUTIFUL women, right here, in this thread!! in my life, I live by so many of these words.
Beauty is who you are!!
people become beautiful to me as they express their values, what they live by. what they care about. it does not matter what you have!!
I work with a street outreach program, often the women are so beaten down. They have a really hard time understanding that I am not looking at them for "where they live or what they do" - I'm looking at them fr the point of view of, "look at what you have survived" and those tears are real beauty".
I model part time and honestly it bothers me that all this touching up does not reflect reality. I do my best to only do shots/take jobs that are a little more realistic with less touch ups. I'm old (in the industry) so I am fortunate enough to do this. I don't want little girls thinking they have to look anything other than themselves.. kinda strange in that people don't catch my attention unless something beautiful comes out of their mouth. I tend to look into a soul not at the outside package. the industry has taught me that. oh, I could go on forever!!
