Does foundation make up break out?

Its mostly about how YOUR skin reacts to the foundation. Not the foundations in general. Some foundations may clog your pores and then make you break.

I agree. you also have to make sure that you clean your brushes. and prep your face before putting foundation on (tone, moisturize & primer)

Shannon is right. Also, if you don't remove your makeup or remove it correctly it can cause you to break out BAD. All skin types are different and I know some girls who only wear makeup on occasion and don't take it off correctly but can get away with it. Either way, it's not the best thing for your skin and skin care is very important.

But it does benfit your skin as it acts as a protector against harsh and cold weather :)

It can make you break out like all these ladies said. You have to make sure your skin is properly cleansed, and moisturized before applying foundation. Also a primer can help create a barrier from your skin to your foundation. Everyone's skin reacts differently to different products. I have very sensitive skin and I had reacted badly to Revlon Colorstay foundation. It gave me an allergic reaction and I got bumps all over my face. I prefer a light feeling foundation that lets your skin breath. I'm currently using L'Oreal True Match.

Does foundation make you break out?
Technically... no, foundation does not cause you to break out.
All foundations have different ingredients in them. While some foundations are gentle on the skin, others contain chemicals and added fragrances that generally irritate the skin.
The oils on your skin are mixing with your cosmetics, including a primer. Which can generally cause enlarged pores, blackheads, different types of acne and irritation. This is why it's very important to wash your face, regardless if the foundation is irritating or not.
Keep in mind that a lot of women and marketing terms usually label foundations as 'allowing skin to breathe'. This is a completely false statement and just marketing strategy. Your skin does not inhale or exhale, if your skin were to breathe we would drown every time we took a shower, dipped in the pool, in the beach, etc.
The actual reality of 'your skin breathing' is referring to clogged pores. You will want to look for foundations labeled as non-comedogenic, free of fragrances ( including parfum ) , and one that does not contains any added, unnecessary ingredients that are comedogenic. ( Such as essential oils, like lavender which is Comedogenic.

The ingredients in a foundation can brake out out if you aren't careful, and sometimes even if you are. I always use a face primer and clean my brushes weekly but the MUFE foundation would break me out a little bit and the Garnier BB cream broke me out a lot! Sometimes your skin just doesn't agree with certain things. I switched to the NARS tinted moisturizer and the UD Naked foundation and I've been problem free.

The product itself can if you have certain allergies, but for most people sanitary and clean application and removal of foundation should keep the face clean and minimize break outs.
