When it comes to style I consider basic (s) to mean the foundation of a functional wardrobe. there are certain pieces of clothing, or basics, that sort of help build one like camis, an amazing pair of jeans, a black pencil skirt, correctly fitting under garments etc.

Basic means there's nothing special about (you, what youre wearing) whatever is pointed out

"shes basic" - is like shes an average girl there's nothing interesting about her
