Cut them. You can smooth them down with oils and conditioners but they aren't really fixed and it's much better to trim it at first than have major breakage all the way up the hair shafts.

When your hair is split you can't safe it, only cut it. But when it's cut and healthy then you can keep the split ends away for longer by doing as Danielle said :)

Chop em and protect your hair by using little heat and heat protectors. deep condition once a week and especially after a color.

The only way to get rid of them is to cut them. There's nothing else that's going to repair them. Once you do, deep condition your hair once or twice a week, and if you use heat often of any kind, get a heat protectant.
