It sounds cheap and silly, but seriously food colouring works like a dream. I do mine pink all the time :)
Here's what I do:
-Plait my hair into four sections, so it's easy to reach
-Pour some food colouring (of your choice, however I wouldn't recommend green or blue as it makes your hair look rather mouldy) into a shallow container (I use the container my iPod touch came in)
-Brush/soak your hair in the colour, then wrap in foil for 1-2 hours depending on how dark your hair is and how long you want it to stay in for
- Rinse your hair in shower quickly with warm water (not hot) and DON'T use shampoo. Rinsing your hair will insure the colour stays in your hair, and doesn't get on clothes
-Let it air dry or you can blow dry it
This is my hair, the deep pink is usually there for 1 and a half weeks and then it starts to fade as I wash it. I keep the foils on for about an hour and the colour is completely out by 6 weeks. Sorry for the long post but hope I helped :) x
