I am religiously going to follow this thread. I have the same issues as you. yesterday I went on a roadtrip and my hair so violently knotted that I looked like medusa.. while all my friends' hair perfectly blew in the wind.
however an egg mask or a coconut oil massage does make my hair smooth.. you could try that

I used to have the same problem but I'm just now getting the hang of my naturally wavy hair and I'm starting to love it lol I started using Renpure Originals Argan Oil shampoo which I love because it doesn't have any sulfates or anything bad it pretty much just uses mostly coconut oil and and palm oil despite the name lol and I started using It's a 10 conditioner which I absolutely swear by and I've been using a deep conditioner once a week. I use a wide tooth comb to get all the knots out rights before I wash it to reduce breakage and I usually dry it with a 100% cotton t-shirt. then I put a little bit of suave professionals strengthening leave-in cream then I twist it up into a bun and let it air dry (it takes a few hours) then after it's dry I put some Argan oil in it and it's frizz free and shiny and looks super healthy! I hope any of that helped lol.
