A local charity that provides prom dresses for girls in need asked me to help with the girls hair and makwup. Im not a makeup artist and I've had no training. I know some of what I need like sterilization, a mixing palette, foundations for different skin tone and types. The majority of the people in my area are African American or Hispanic and I really have no idea what colors look best on their skin tones or what type of skin they generally have. . . Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

hispanic girls have olive and warmer undertones, often drier skin where as african girls often have dark cool undertones and oily skin. theres always exceptions to these generalizations tho so keep that in mind!

African Americans mostly have neutral, warm or cool skin undertone and mostly combination to oily skin type. Hispanics mostly have warm or olive undertones and the skin type varies from normal to oily skin.
Always ask what kind of skin type they have before doing their makeup. It will help you choosing the right foundation. Start with a clean face and always moisturize the face first, oily or not.
Both Hispanics and African American looks good pretty much in all colors: gold, forest green, dark, blue purple, oranges etc. Warm tone colors are the best. Avoid cool tone colors, it makes them look ashy.
