Is it true that split ends actually go UP your hair and make it shorter? I'm trying to grow out my hair and I'd hate to cut my hair :( I don't mind my split ends too much since it does still make my hair look longer. But if I am trying to grow it out, will it just not look as good, or can it actually PREVENT your hair from growth? I'm really nervous about this question, I would absolutely hate to cut my hair... :'(

Unfortunately, yes it's true.
BUT
That doesn't mean you have to cut your hair shorter. There are certain techniques stylists use so that they only cut off those split ends. It's a bit time lengthy but it's pretty cool and actually popular in brazil and kind of starting to emerge here.. just in the higher end salons. One of the techniques is using fire.. they twist bits of hair super tight and split ends typically stick out.. they use the fire of a candle to get rid of them. I saw a video on it and it was pretty cool!

Okay thank you so much :) I'll try to look into salons that help split ends!

Yep! If you're split end prone, and you go too long without cutting your hair, you'll notice. My ends get really straggly and gross looking. Honestly, a small, regular trim is the best thing for your hair.

I've also heard about the fire technique too. I don't think it's for me. I can't see how it would be good for my hair, but I guess it's working for some women. Just don't do it at home!
