When Giving Advice On BL...

I was testing out a new academic program to check for plagiarism as I will be teaching a college course this fall as a graduate student. So I just randomly pulled a reply that was posted on a thread here on BL. To my surprise every single word was pulled from a blog page.
After I read it that is when I found serious issue with it...the advice given was a completely insane. I'm not going to reveal the thread as I don't want to embarrass or shame the individual but its so important that if one is going to snag an entire post from a blogger at least give it credit and provide a link instead of just writing it off as your own. And not only that give your response some serious thought because many beauties go off that advice without doing any research on their own. And if unsure research it yourself so you can give sound advice so someone else can avoid unnecessary grief.

@Kelly...someone on BL plagiarized an internet blogger. And even the blogger was giving incorrect information. The date for the blog post was back in Sept 2011.

Shelley I'm not surprised lol myself and other moderator's have had our words to the T taken and used on other's threads with No type of credit given to us and it's sad because these are our words from actual experience and explanation being tossed around like nothing and the person that spreads it ends up getting the thank you & credit for helping.I take pride in what I do and say because my words are real and true from my experience and for people to just use it like it's nothing but just info to gain Likes is disappointing to me.

@Alma...yes...I noticed that too. On the flip side I also notice a lot of beauties giving yourself and the other mods credit and even going as far as taking screenshots of the advice given from similar posts. But when I see no credit given whatsoever...makes this writer a lil hot under the collar. Now has me kinda stressed about teaching this college course...I hope I don't have to confront a student on plagiarism.

Oh girl I cannot tell you how many cheaters I deal with teaching chemistry lab to college freshmen - it is just ridiculous so definitely watch out for them because they are NOT slick! Haha anyways I usually try to credit sources that I take stuff from - and usually I do it to help others do their own research and I am definitely a big supporter of doing your own research with any advice that is given on BL or any website for that matter - but I definitely agree that we should give credit where it is due and plagiarism should never be tolerated

@Alma...heck yeah I'm nervous!! I was told I will my projected class number will be anywhere from 30 to 47 students. Tom Ford, MAC, Bobbi Brown will be in serious rotation.lol.

Aww man now I'm curious as to which post it was. but that's just sad that this happens on BL. I feel like if I'm giving someone advice on here it is from my own personal experience. not something that has been regurgitated from someone else.

So what I do is I talk to them after lab n let them know that I caught them cheating and every quiz after that they will have to sit in the front row with no one else around them n that usually stops it - usually if you confront them and tell them the next time you catch them you will give them a zero on the assignment they usually stop and if they don't then just give them a zero shoot you warned them! It's always best to follow through with any punishment that you tell them.
