does anyone else have the same problem as me? I straighten my hair everyday! I can't help it! I have too! I know it's really bad for my hair, I've Reyes stopping before but I can't! does anyone have anything that can help?

Girl, I know how you feel ! Just take your hair straightener as far away from you as possible and keep your mind off of it for a while. Start straightening your hair once a week and just reduce how many times you straighten it :)

Just do what you want and take care of your hair in other ways like oil treatments, masks and always using heat protectant.

Try styling it without heat. You could braid it, or put it up in a ponytail, you could also try an updo. You shouldn't need heat for any of these

I used to be the same way. Try letting it dry naturally instead of blow drying that will reduce a but of damage. Or just let it dry and see if it looks ok. Put it up in a fancy clip or wear a headband.

if you have long beautiful hair you like and want to keep it long I would suggest reducing the amount of times your straightening your hair, or the next time you get a cut your hairdresser will have to take more than an inch off... happened to me, also letting your hair naturally dry wont have that much of an impact so blow dry it as straight as you can and use the iron to touch up.

I used to straighten my hair a lot. For about 6 months or longer though I haven't been doing it quite as often, but when I do I blowdry my hair first. Yes, it is more heat but it really does help get the kinks out. All I have to use the flat iron for after is smoothing any areas that aren't as flat as I'd like. And you could use the low heat setting on the blowdryer.
I also bought a brush that has sponge bristles that absorbs and removes water from the hair. I honestly don't know how I lived without this all these years. Its cut the time I spend drying my hair in half. I used to spend half an hour drying my hair, now it takes 10. So the more water you remove the faster your hair will dry and the less time you have to use heat on it.
I agree with Vanessa though, use products that help take care of your hair and use a protective spray each time you use a flat iron.

I have longish hair an I'm trying to grow it out. so hopefully I can stop my habit! earlie in the year I found that I was killing my hair so bad that I had to stop.. I went with straightening and blow dry once a week for two months then I had a party and I straightened my hair and I just had to keep doing it.. I also got a new ghd which made me even more eager to straighten! so I'm definately trying to stop now! I'm thinking of hiding my ghd, curler and blow dryer and only using them for party's and stuff. thanks heaps girls! :) x

It's important that you have a GOOD flat iron and it won't do as much damage!!!

If you can't help it use a heat Shield and use really moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and a leave in conditioner

thanks Julie I might do that!

Ya at least ghds are good straighteners. They won't get too hot if your hair doesn't need it.

yeah, I love ghd's definately the best straightener I've used!

I used to straighten my hair everyday and had soo much dryness and split ends... Use the "cool" setting on your hair dryer! And minimize any heat styling since you want to keep growing it out. take a multivitamin too! And eat a diet high in protein. This will help your hair be healthy. This is what I do to keep mine thick n shiny.

i wish i was like you guys and blow drying my hair helped straighten it first...some girls just simply have to use an iron because their hair is too kinky and pin curl like. thats the way mine is at least. even blow drying with a round brush will just make a mushroom mess. i have to air dry and straighten from curly to get a nice finish.

Reducing the times you wash your hair and washing every other day so u can straighten it less often and keep it natural on the weekends unless u r going to a party so your hair ca grow out!

I'm the same!

You could blow dry it straight - it's less damaging - if it doesn't use a straightening spray then blow dry

Couple Tips for you!
1. Always apply a heat protecting spray before blow drying and straightening, if your going to do it, at least make sure you protect your hair as much as you can!
2. Apply a hair oil to keep your hair moisturized so it doesn't dry out and break. I would recommend trying "Moroccan Oil". It might be a bit pricey, but a bottle will last you a LONG time.
3. Use dry shampoo. If you use dry shampoo in between washes, it will mean you can go longer in between washing your hair, which means less blow drying , less straightening, and overall, less stress on your hair, so your hair will be much healthier!
4. Apply a deep conditioning treatment once a week (even a DIY treatment using Olive Oil, Avocado, Eggs and Honey will work wonders!)
5. Some days, try a cute up-do so you don't have to use any heat-styling at all.. try a cute bun, braid, ponytail etc.
Hope this helps! xxo
